Conversion

Real paragraphs, headings, tables and pictures you can edit freely in Word. The look is a little simpler than the original.

For image-only PDFs: the text is read from the picture of each page.

🔒 Your files never leave your device: conversion runs in your browser.

The short answer

Choose a PDF, then pick Editable to get real paragraphs, headings, tables and pictures you can change in Word, or Exact layout to keep every line in place over a picture of the page. Click Convert to Word and download the .docx. Everything runs in your browser, so the file is never uploaded.

How it is calculated

Editable mode: it reads every word with its position and font, finds tables from the lines drawn in the PDF, splits the page into regions so columns are read one after another, then rebuilds paragraphs, headings (from font size), lists and tables, and puts pictures where they belong.

Exact layout: the page is drawn as a picture without its text, with all backgrounds, colors and shapes, and the real text is placed on top in the same spot, so it stays selectable and editable.

Worked example

Jordan has a PDF invoice and needs to change two line items:

  1. He picks the file and keeps Editable.
  2. He clicks Convert to Word and sees how many paragraphs, tables and pictures came through.
  3. He downloads the file and opens it in Word.

The items and totals are real Word tables, and the header boxes sit side by side as in the PDF.

Special cases and common mistakes

  • Password-protected PDFs cannot be converted. Unlock the file first.
  • Fonts: Word uses the fonts installed on your computer, so a typeface may look slightly different.
  • Very busy layouts like magazines may need small touch-ups after converting, or try Exact layout.
  • Nothing from your file is sent anywhere: we only count that a conversion happened and which mode was used.
