The short answer

Open a PDF on this page, choose the pages by clicking their previews (all are selected to start), pick JPG or PNG and a resolution, then press Convert selected pages. One page downloads as an image; several come in a ZIP. Conversion runs on your device, so your PDF is never uploaded.

How it is calculated

Each page is drawn at the chosen resolution: page width in inches × dots per inch (DPI). A Letter page is 8.5 inches wide, so at 150 DPI the image is 1,275 pixels wide.

JPG is smaller and suits pages with photos. PNG is sharper for text and tables but larger.

Worked example

Sam wants to post two slides from a PDF deck on Instagram:

  1. Open the deck, press Clear selection, then click pages 3 and 7.
  2. Choose JPG and Standard (150 DPI), which is plenty for a phone.
  3. Press Convert selected pages to get a ZIP with two images.

Two images, 1,275 × 1,650 px each (Letter page).

Special cases and common mistakes

  • 300 DPI makes very large images. Use it for printing; long files take more time and memory.
  • Transparent backgrounds become white so JPGs never come out black.
  • Text in an image cannot be copied. For the words themselves, use PDF to text.
  • Password-protected PDFs need to be unlocked first.
