Merge PDF files without uploading them
Add your files, drag or use the arrows to order them, and press Merge files. Nothing leaves your device.
Last reviewed: October 9, 2026Runs in your browser. Nothing you enter or open is uploaded.
Add at least two files, or a file and an image.
The short answer
Choose your PDFs or drop them on the page, add JPG or PNG images if you like, put them in order with the arrows or by dragging, and press Merge files. You get one PDF with every page in that order. Merging runs in your browser, so nothing is uploaded and there is no limit on files.
How it is calculated
Pages are copied as they are into a new PDF, with no re-printing or compression, so text stays selectable and searchable and quality is unchanged. Each image becomes its own page in Letter, A4 or the image’s own size.
The merged file is about the size of the originals added together.
Worked example
Maria is applying for an apartment and the landlord wants one PDF:
- She adds her application form (2 pages), two pay stubs (1 page each) and a phone photo of her driver’s license.
- She drags the license photo to the top and leaves image pages on Letter size.
- She names the file "maria-rental-application" and presses Merge files.
One 5-page PDF: license, application, then both pay stubs.
Quick reference table
| Where | Typical limit | Tip |
|---|---|---|
| Job and school portals | One file only | Merge your documents here in the required order |
| Gmail / Outlook attachments | 20–25 MB | If the merged file is too big, shrink photos before adding them |
| Court and government e-filing | Often one PDF per document | Merge exhibits into a single file |
| 3.0 MB + 2.0 MB files | Result ≈ 5 MB | Merging does not compress or reduce quality |
Special cases and common mistakes
- Password-protected PDFs cannot be merged. They show a lock; remove them or unlock them first.
- Phone photos are turned upright automatically, even if the camera saved them sideways. Use ↻ to rotate any image.
- Fillable forms keep their pages, but form fields may no longer be editable after merging.
- Works offline: once the page has loaded, you can turn off Wi-Fi and merging still works, because it all happens on your device.
Frequently asked questions
How do I merge PDFs without uploading them?
Use this page: files are combined inside your browser and never sent to a server. You can test it by going offline after the page loads.
Can I combine PDFs and JPGs into one PDF?
Yes. Add images between your PDFs and each one becomes a page at that point in the order.
Is there a limit on how many PDFs I can merge?
No. There is no file count or size limit; only very large files are limited by your device’s memory.
Does merging reduce quality?
No. Pages are copied as they are, so text stays sharp and searchable.
Can I merge PDFs on my iPhone or Android?
Yes. Open this page on your phone, choose files from Files or Photos, press Merge files, then save or share the result.
