The short answer
Choose images from your phone or computer, or scan a document with the camera, then put them in order with the arrows or by dragging and rotate any crooked one. Pick a page size (Letter by default) and margins, then press Convert to PDF. Each image becomes a page. Nothing is uploaded and there is no limit on images.
How it is calculated
Each image is centered on its page as large as it can be without cropping or stretching. On Auto, landscape images get landscape pages and portrait images get portrait pages.
Upright JPGs and PNGs go in untouched, so there is no quality loss. Sideways phone photos are turned upright, and "Smaller file" scales big photos down to 1,600 px for email and upload portals.
Worked example
Chris needs to upload his W-2, pay stub and ID to a mortgage portal that only takes one PDF:
- He taps "Scan a document" and photographs the three papers.
- He rotates the crooked pay stub and orders the pages: ID, W-2, pay stub.
- He keeps Letter size, picks "Smaller file" because the portal caps uploads, and presses Convert to PDF.
One 3-page Letter PDF, far smaller than the original photos combined.

Special cases and common mistakes
- iPhone HEIC photos are not readable in browsers yet. Share them as JPG from Photos, or set Settings › Camera › Formats to "Most Compatible."
- Upload size limits (like 2 MB or 5 MB): choose "Smaller file." Text stays readable and the file gets much lighter.
- Upside-down image? Press ↻ before converting. Sideways phone photos are fixed automatically.
- Works offline: once the page has loaded you can turn off Wi-Fi; converting still works because it all happens on your device.
