The short answer
Choose paragraphs, sentences or words, enter how many, and the lorem ipsum text appears instantly with a copy button. By default it opens with the classic line "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet…", and you can turn that off. The words option gives an exact count, and an HTML option wraps each paragraph in <p> tags.
How it is calculated
Paragraph = 4 to 7 sentences; sentence = 6 to 14 Latin words with an occasional comma.
The first sentence is the classic one unless you untick it: "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua."
Words mode cuts the text to the exact count and ends it with a period. Limits: 50 paragraphs, 200 sentences or 5,000 words.
Worked example
You are laying out a blog template in Figma and need body copy plus a short teaser for a card.
- Body: Paragraphs, 3 gives 175 words in 3 paragraphs (what the tool shows when it opens)
- Card teaser: Words, 12 gives "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor."

Special cases and common mistakes
- Use the words option for tight spaces. Buttons, cards and meta-description previews need an exact length. Paragraph mode varies from one press to the next; words mode does not.
- Lorem ipsum hides real-copy problems. Real English headlines and names are often longer than placeholder words. Test your layout with the longest real title you expect before you sign off.
- Search for it before launch. Leftover "lorem ipsum" on a live page looks unfinished and can end up indexed by search engines. Search your templates for "lorem" before publishing.
- Need a different look? Untick the classic opening so every paragraph starts differently, which keeps repeated blocks in a mockup from looking copy-pasted.

What is lorem ipsum?
Lorem ipsum is placeholder text made of scrambled Latin. Designers use it to fill a layout so people judge the design, not the words, before the real copy is ready.
Does lorem ipsum mean anything?
Not as a whole. Many of the words are real or shortened Latin words, but they are arranged so the sentences carry no meaning. That is the point: readers are not distracted by content.
How do I generate an exact number of words?
Choose Words and type the number. The text is cut to exactly that many words and ends with a period. The word count is shown above the text.
Can I get lorem ipsum with HTML tags?
